Mr. Seth A. Lipshie, Superintendent of Schools  
 

Mr. Lipshie has more than 30 years of academic and administrative experience and he has spent most of career in Miller Place School district. Mr. Lipshie joined the Miller Place Staff in 1990 as a Social Studies Teacher and in 2001 he became Assistant Principal at North Country Road Middle School. From 2002 to 2010 he served as Principal of Miller Place High School before being appointed as Assistant Superintendent in 2010 and Deputy Superintendent in 2014.  In July of 2022, Mr. Lipshie was appointed to the role Superintendent. 

Mr. Lipshie received a Bachelor of Arts from Macalester College, a Master of Arts from Stony Brook University and his Administrative Professional Certification from the College of New Rochelle.  Prior to joining Miller Place School District, Mr. Lipshie started his teaching career in Eastport South Manor.

In addition to Mr. Lipshie’s teaching and administrative roles at Miller Place School District, he also coached Boys Basketball, Girls Junior Varsity Soccer as well as Boys Middle School Soccer. He started the Mock Trial Club at the high school competing with schools across Suffolk County.  At the North Country Road Middle School, Mr. Lipshie chaired the School Improvement Team and spearheaded the start of the National Junior Honor Society. He was selected to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in 1994 and 2005.  

Mr. Lipshie has represented Miller Place School District on the Suffolk County Basketball Coaches Association Executive Board as Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, and New York State Representative for Suffolk County.  He serves on Section XI as a member of the Athletic Council, Eligibility Committee and the Hiring Committee for the Executive Director of Section XI.  He has held leadership positions as President of the Miller Place Teachers’ Association and President of Miller Place Administrators’ Association.
