DOMENICO THEOTOCOPULOS (1541-1614)

Tomó el nombre de El Greco cuando vivía en España. Fue a Italia y después a España, primero a Madrid y luego a Toledo. Allí vivió y pintó hasta su muerte en 1614.

En Toledo llegó a ser un pintor religioso. Realizó pinturas para la catedral de Toledo y la iglesia de Santo Tomé.

Entre sus cuadros más famosos están "El entierro del Conde de Orgaz", "Vista de Toledo", "El Caballero con la Mano en el Pecho".

He took the name of El Greco when he lived in Spain. He went to Italy and later to Spain, first to Madrid and then Toledo. There he lived until his death in 1614.

In Toledo he became a religious painter. He created paintings for the Toledo Cathedral and for the Church Santo Tomé.

Among his most famous paintings are: "The burial of the Count of Orgaz", "View of Toledo" and "The Gentleman with the hand on his chest.
