Reader's Workshop

  • Reading

Students will be reading a lot during the school day!  While working in Reading Workshop, they will take part in guided reading groups, independent reading, literature circles, read alouds and choral reading.  It is very important that children continue practicing reading at home.  We encourage students to read or be read to nightly at home.  After reading, it is a good idea to discuss the book.  (Share your favorite part, character, something you found interesting, how you relate to the book etc.)

This year, we will continue to enjoy the school-wide Reading Program called Journeys!  WE LOVE IT and so will the students.  Each child will keep their Journey's materials in their desks at school.  There are 6 Units broken down into weekly Lessons.  At the bottom of this page, you can click on the link titled "Focus Wall" to find the topics for each week.
