  2005 Class Valedictorian
Christina Wong

Christina is a young lady with many talents. She is an athlete who has participated in three sports: field hockey, winter track and spring track and excelled as a member of each. The Miller Place Field Hockey Team, with Christina as a player, won the Class B Long Island Championships. Christina also made it to the Suffolk County Championships in the hurdles during Winter and Spring Track. Christina is a talented musician. She has played the oboe since middle school and got high ratings at NYSSMA all through High School.

Christina is a highly intelligent individual and an excellent student. She is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, the National Honor Society and Foreign Language Honor Society.  She is treasurer of the Senior Class and has been a research volunteer / intern at Brookhaven National Laboratory. While an intern at Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Medical Department, she had the opportunity to hear lectures from renowned scientists in the filed of neuropsychology and to conduct her own research.  She has received the Brookhaven Science Associates Scholarship and a New York State Regents Scholarship. She has a 99.21 GPA and will be attending NYU in the fall to study biology with the hope of becoming a doctor.

Kari D'Ottavio

Kari is both a talented athlete and gifted musician.  Kari has played JV Softball and JV and Varsity Field Hockey and was named co-captain of the Miller Place Field Hockey team this year.  Kari has played both the piano and the flute for many years and has been part of the Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Band and Concert band. She also competed in NYSSMA for the flute and Jazz NYSSMA for the piano. 

Kari has spent a lot of time working for the students of Miller Place High School and has been a member of student government since the 9th grade. She served as class president of grades 9 and 10 and was elected a class Senator in the 11th grade.  She was elected Executive Council president and has the distinction of being the first Ex-Officio Student Member of the Board of Education.  Kari is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Foreign Language National Honor Society. She has a grade point average of 98.7 and will be attending Loyola University in the fall.
